The Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Malaysia conducted the Sixth International Course on Flood Mitigation and Stormwater Management 2015 under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) 2015. The 12-days course was conducted in Kuala Lumpur from 17 to 28 August 2015 for about 20 participants from various countries. The key topics covered in the course are as follows: Flood Forecasting And Warning System In Malaysia Flood Forecasting Model Operational Flood Forecasting And Warning System River Management And Restoration In Malaysia – Clean Living And Vibrant River Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM) And River Basin Information System Flood Hazard Map Planning And Design Of Flood Mitigation Measures Urban Stormwater Management In Malaysia (MSMA) Erosion And Sediment Control (ESC) & Best Manage-ment Practices Case Study – River Of Life Site Visit The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) was first initiated at the First Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) for Asia Pacific Region in Sydney in February 1978. It was officially launched on 7 September 1980 at the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting in New Delhi to signify Malaysia’s commitment to South-South Cooperation, in particular Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC). The MTCP emphasises the development of human resources through the provision of training in various areas which are essential for a country’s development such as public administration, good governance, health services, education, sustainable development, agriculture, poverty alleviation, investment promotion, ICT and banking. More than 100 programmes are offered by 79 MTCP training institutions, many of which are centres of excellence for training. Malaysia – South East Asia (SEA) Water Footprint Training Course Flamingo Hotel, Kuala Lumpur (24-26 March 2015)

The Malaysian Water Partnership (MyWP) with cooperation from UNESCO Jakarta has successfully organised a Water Footprint Training Course in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia from the 24-26th Mac 2015. The training course was conducted by Dr. Ashok Chapagain, Science Director, of the Water Footprint Network (WFN) based in the Netherlands. Dr. Ashok was assisted by five facilitators form Malaysia The training course was officially opened by Dato Sri Ir. Hj Ahmad Husaini Sulaiman, The Director General of Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia who is also the chairman of AWGWRM and MyWP. Invitation was made to the focal point ASEAN Working Group on Water Resources Management (AWGWRM) and five member states had responded to the invitation. Vietnam and Indonesia were represented by the respective UNDP CapNet focal point.
